Walk #0001
The stairs: Getting down the stairs was dicey. Took a couple of spectacular, hilarious tumbles. Lesson learned: safety first, always. The Brooklyn apartment is a charming home base, but we’ll need a better launchpad going forward.
The crowd: 99% friends, only two haters.
- Hater #1: our downstairs neighbor, who is mad at everything, all the time. Consistent, at least.
- Hater #2: a man on a bike who chased us around the park to inform us that robots are cops and we should f*** off to San Francisco. Bold of him to assume we’d survive the rent.
Everyone else was stoked. People took videos and asked what it was for, and they lit up when we told them: it’s for FUN, and to spread joy in the world.
The mode: We ran around the park in “raw dawg” mode, meaning a completely stock Boston Dynamics robot. No costume, no makeup, just vibes.
Next upgrade: A sign with a QR code linking to Biscotti’s Linktree, so curious strangers can become digital friends.
The plan: This starts as a grassroots operation. Small spots first, while we fine-tune how attention turns into fans. Bigger appearances come later, once we’ve nailed the harder stuff: piloting a robot safely through a crowd, keeping the vibes high, and slipping in and out of venues gracefully.
